The crucial component of these H1 greases is LE’s exclusive and proprietary additive QUINPLEX®, which enhances the lubricants’ performance by improving: water resistance, tackiness (for adherence), cohesion, the ‘mechanical stability’ of the LE grease and finally by forming an outstanding barrier against rust & corrosion. It is well known that the food industry consistently provides some of the harshest environmental conditions for machinery. The effective lubrication of this expensive & varied machinery is a constant problem for food processing plants that often run twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Greases must be able to resist moisture, high & low temperatures, shock loading, high speeds as well as attack by acids, alkalines & cleaners. But most of all they must often be H1 or H2 approved by the NSF and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). They are white, water resistant, resist high temperatures, cling to metal, are rust & corrosion inhibited and mechanically stable. Importantly for these greases they also provide true extreme pressure performance; an important requirement in food plant machinery. QUINPLEX’s ® extra resistance to water washout is the most significant as it eliminates corrosion related failures of the bearings; often the most common cause of failure. The increased adhesiveness results in much less grease being used as it will stay where it is put, reducing the amount that needs to be added. Many food plants are now using only a quarter of the amount of grease that was used before QUINPLEX®.

Several case studies from around the world demonstrate the success of QUINPLEX® Food Machinery Lubricant: Maple Leaf Pork, Brandon, Canada documented that their plant is now using less than half the amount of grease since they switched to LE. They are also saving a substantial amount in labour costs due to less greasing requirements. At Lion Breweries, New Zealand, LE4024 QUINPLEX® was used in their Steinecke malt mills and found to provide better resistance to water wash out, less grease was used and there was a significant improvement in vibration analysis. William Hill Winery, Napa, California was able to increase the greasing interval from once a day to once every three days, decreasing labour & grease costs by two thirds. Finally, Borden Co. Inc, Sulphur Springs, Texas process speciality food for the dairy industry. The plant was able to reduce grease consumption from 150 Ibs per year to only 50 lbs per year with LE’s 4023 QUINPLEX®; savings of nearly 67%. The true savings though came from eliminating repair man hours, parts and lost production.
